Ramya Travels

Bus Operator : Ramya Travels
Bus Type : Ashley Semi Sleeper AC (Zedone Model Prakash Built)
Date : 09/05/2015
Fare : Rs.790/- (Rs.592.50 through Redbus 25% discount)

Like to share my travel experience from Tuticorin to Chennai on 09-May-2015. Coming to the operator, it was new to the Tuticorin route and not sure whether they are new to the travel industry. To my knowledge they have started their operation during first quarter of the year 2014 with the pair of Full Sleeper AC coach and subsequently upgraded with a pair of Semi Sleeper AC coach. Tuticorin, with the great domination from operators like Ajith, Vivegam, SRM for a longer period, feel this guy has set the name for them too with their good buses and competitive rates.

Coming to the travel, since i was impressed with the exterior look of their Ashley Semi Sleeper AC, waited for an opportunity to travel. As per recent schedule this bus was doing from Udangudi to Chennai via Chendur, Kayalpattinam, Eral, Tuticorin and earlier it was from Sathankulam.Bus was scheduled to start from Tuticorin at 10.05pm. On the day of the travel, i have reached their office at 9.50pm and at around 10.00pm there was a call from a mobile number. It has been told they are Ramya travels crew and the guy who has called was very polite and soft. They checked on my availability and informed me the bus is on the way and would reach within 10 minutes. By around 10.20pm bus reached the spot with cool and colourful exteriors. Two drivers and a cleaner was on board. One of the driver who was in seat was very young and must be in the age of 30 and another driver in the age of 40 and cleaner with around 27yrs. Cleaner & Driver helped the passengers to set their luggage and be seated.

As already said on this bus exterior attraction to me, felt very much happy to see the interiors. Right from AC vent to seats (or) charger points it is good in all. This was the first kind of AC vent i have seen where Ac on/off has a slider switch. The seats were good and has a good recline and better leg space. Unlike other buses charger points which were hidden in the bottom and would difficult to use, this coach has charger point in the top with On/Off Switch with mobile holder. Also there was Small fans fitted and not sure on its availability on AC coach (May be for use during AC failure). Apart from this TV and sound system was good and i was in no mood to watch it because i love to see the action outside.

Bus left the Tuti outskirts at around 10.45pm after filling diesel. I was seated at the row 26 and could not feel the engine noise much unless the cabin doors were opened for some purpose. Bus slowly started to move around 90+ kmph speed. Wish to say that i have never expected such a smooth ride in Ashley. The ride is similar to Volvo / Scania with only difference in initial acceleration. The 30yr old young guy handled the bus in smooth manner without any rashness but consistent speed around 90- 95 kmph. Top speed recorded as per my GPS is 103 km/h. I was expecting a earlier reach, but bus came to a halt in between Madurai to Trichy stretch. Initial talks were on a burst sound from tyre. Since i was sleeping that time, i could not realize the actual sound. After some times i too got down and understood that the sound was not from tyre and from engine area. One of the driver told to check the turbo while other driver went down inside the bus and checked. The crew were coordinating with each other to fix the issue. Here nearly some 45min got wasted and i am not sure on this technical issue and bus went around 60-70kmph only after this problem. Many other buses were overtaking us by this time and due to less speed bus was noiseless during run. Again bus came to a halt near to Villupuram and the crew did something for 7-8min and resumed the journey. Not sure what they did now and bus was again cruising at 95+kmph.

Overall it was a very good journey excluding the mechanical faults which hope it will not occur on regular basis. Considering the service rendered feel it is very worth and recommend for the passengers travelling between chennai to udangudi stretch since it is premium coach with cheap rates. Other Non Ac SS provider, charges at an average of Rs.750. With an additional of only Rs.40, this would be a awesome deal. Ashley Rockz…
